New Forest Makers Markets have been set up for local artists and crafters to showcase their talent and sell their handmade products, as well as for the public to buy these locally produced handmade creations.
We love to support creativity everywhere!
Our markets in Lymington run monthly on a Saturday from 10am till 4pm in the stunning town of Lymington, a port town on the west bank of the Lymington River on the Solent. The market is held in the Masonic Hall just off of the bustling high street.
Our Lyndhurst markets are held in another beautiful town within the stunning tourist destination of the New Forest. The markets take place in the Lyndhurst Community Centre and are also held monthly on a Saturday between May and December.
Our third and newest market is in Ringwood, located on the edge of the New Forest and steeped in history. Ringwood is a quaint market town with easily accessible carparks close to all the shops and our fantastic new market location, Greyfriars Community Centre. The centre is home to many clubs and events and next to the town library. We will be in Ringwood once a month between the months of March and December. We are fortunate to be able to create a wonderful shopping experience with stalls inside and outside as well as having buskers playing on the lawn.
We thrive on knowing that we make a continuous positive impact in supporting small independent businesses and help our local economy by encouraging people to 'shop local'.
I hope you enjoy visiting the markets
Meet the Founder
I am a mum of four boys, so like many other mothers I am a taxi driver, chef, cleaner, problem solver, driving instructor, bank teller and cheerleader to all of my boys. I also have two fur children (sprockerpoos) who love nothing more than wallowing in muddy puddles and stealing biscuits.
Prior to setting up New Forest Makers Markets I was a founder of another Makers Market company, alongside my ex business partner. Unfortunately after 3 long years the decision was made to separate. I have spent the last 6 months working very hard, having to start from scratch proudly building New Forest Makers Markets to what you see today, a thriving business full of successful makers with happy makers, buskers and customers.
I had previously run a children’s entertainment business with my husband and spent many years working as a teaching assistant to students aged 4 to 16 years, specialising in Asd support. I am a patient, positive and energetic person who loves nothing more than using my creativity and having a go at literally anything crafty in my ‘Hobby craft’ replica office. It’s not a surprise to anyone close to me that I am creative and entrepreneurial, I get it from all four of my grandparents and am always inspired by my aunt who completed a fine art degree aged 65 and is, like me, a dab hand at anything creative, she is my inspiration and role model.
Help and support behind the scenes
With out the love and support of my wonderful family New forest Makers Markets would not exist. I am fortunate to have constant help and encouragement to keep going:
Alice( my sons girlfriend), who created my logo and set up my website for me.
My Husband Dale and son Dalton who keep me grounded and level headed and assist often with gazebos, loading and unloading the van.
Bryony for pretty much the same thing alongside helping me on market days, bringing me coffee, cleaning up my kitchen and cooking tea when I'm on a 12 hour stint at the computer because I have a deadline.
My friends Hannah and Claire who attend most of my markets either in person ( with sons in tow) or via video call to check in that I'm okay. The rest of my family and friends cheering on from the sides with words of wisdom and encouragement and visiting when they can.
And of course all of the wonderful makers who regularly attend my markets, it is the makers that maker the market what it is, a bubbly fun shopping experience for all:
Melanie who has given up lots of time to help other makers to join our social media groups and get logged on to our app.
Kelly who has created my logo on badges for my uniform.
Chris ( Kelly's other half)who at every market they attend tells hilarious ad jokes that always has us in stitches.
Linzi another maker who helped me settle into our Lymington venue
and lastly, all the wonderful staff that we hire the halls from, all so kind and helpful.
